I spent the day with my family in Carlsbad going through my grandmothers things. I came home with a few strands of pearls that might or might not be real. Along with a few other things. It was a very productive day. The guys were outside tearing down the patio cover with plans to put up a new one soon. Sometimes life moves so fast that if you blink, you'll miss so much. You have to be present every day of your life.

In my photo class, we are starting studio lighting. This is part of my upcoming project. My theme for the class is signs... so I am creating signs for my models to hold that defines them and use lighting that fits that sign. Hope it all goes well. This will be the first time I am in the studio, creating lighting effects, and using a large format camera. Well. If nothing else... I'll learn something new. :)

For now. KO signing out.

This weekend will be the maiden voyage of my holga camera. I'm going to Downtown Carlsbad and taking pictures of the old signs and payphones. While the two don't exactly go together, they are the things that I love. I love downtown areas. I love vintage signs that are still in use (I hope there actually are some in dt Carlsbad). I love Carlsbad. I love payphones (probably because they are going to be extinct one day). And I love film photography because you take so much more time composing the shot, getting the right settings and the final print. There is so much more effort put into it than many people put into digital. I will admit though, when it comes to digital photos I don't really have any any idea what I am doing when I am post processing. I guess I need to take a class. : )

If you can, always take the stairs. It keeps you in better shape. (You never know when you'll have to outrun the zombies).
